A place with fire flower

More experimenting with mixing hand-drawn elements with printed geometric shapes. This time, I printed out a mixture of rectangles and ovals overlapping each other. When I started drawing over these elements, I started to feel like the rectangles reminded me of picture frames, and treated them like little windows into different overlapping dimensions with little creatures bleeding in and out of them.

(Also did you notice that me binging Adventure Time = everything I draw must have eyes)

When I was coloring this super duper cute lineart, I couldn’t stop associating the big flower-looking creature to Calcifer, the fire demon, from Howl’s Moving Castle. Every time I looked at that flower, I wanted to color it as if it was a fire. I think I ended up doing exactly that. I think my coloring came out cute and light this time and it isn’t just a vomit of colors as I would usually do. I do attempt to create a color scheme or pattern but my previous coloring just looks like a hot mess LOL.
